Columbia Books began October 1, 1977 and has been continuing along ever since; starting out with a modest inventory which has grown into an eclectic mixture of 35,000 books ranging from recent releases to antiquarian volumes 400 years old. We also have a large accumulation of prints, maps and paper ephemera.
Over the years has continued to grow; moving 6 times with ourr present location being our final home; always having an open shop; signing on to online selling in 1992 when we were early subscribers to Interloc.
Annette Kolling-Buckley is the proprietor of Columbia Books. She has a MA degree in Library Science from the University of Missouri, studying under Helmutt Lehmann-Haupt as his research assistant, coming into the book business in much the normal way--totally by accident due to a poor job market from rare books librarians.
Clayton Weaver grew up working in the bookstore from a young age, now managing our online presence in addition to the day-to-day tasks of running an open shop.
Both Annette and Clayton are graduates of the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, Annette attended in 1985; Clayton attended in 2009.
Fred was our well-loved mascot ambassador who moved with us 3 times and lived to the ripe old age of 18 years.
